Welcome to the online crime reporting portal. If you have been a victim of certain crimes and the details of your event meet certain criteria, this portal will allow you to self-report the incident. Not all crimes are able to be reported online. To use this system, the following must apply:
- The crime must have occurred inside the city limits of Colorado Springs
- You must be 16 years of age or older.
- No one was injured, and NO weapons were involved.
Crimes with victims deemed as crimes against the elderly (age 70 or higher) or a crime against an At-Risk person may not be reported online. Please call 444-7000 to report these crimes
To report lost/stolen firearm(s), please call 719-444-7000.
If you have met the above criteria, below is a list of crimes that you may report online. Please read the series of questions below to help you determine if your incident qualifies for online reporting.

- If Yes, STOP and call 911 immediately.
- If No, continue to the next question.
- Is the event currently happening (in-progress)?
- If Yes, STOP and call 911 immediately
- If No, continue to the next question.
- Was your event a violent crime against you or another? (Assault, Robbery, Kidnapping, Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, etc.)
- If Yes, and the event is not in-progress, STOP and call 719-444-7000 to report your event. If the event is in progress call 911 immediately.
- If No, continue to next question.
- Do you have viable suspect information? (You can clearly identify the person or persons who committed the criminal act.)
- If Yes, and the event is not in-progress, STOP and call 719-444-7000 to report your event. If the event is in progress call 911 immediately.

Harassment
An unknown person will not leave you alone or is threatening or annoying you. For example, you keep finding notes on your car at work threatening you if keep parking in the same spot. Or, an unknown person keeps leaving threatening messages on your phone.
You may not use this report type if you have suspect information. For example, you are certain or reasonably suspect that it is your coworker, John Doe, leaving the notes on your car. If you believe you clearly know who the suspect is, please call 719-444-7000 to request an officer.
Identity Theft
An unknown person is using your identity fraudulently. For example, you are notified by the IRS that someone has filed a tax return in our name, you have received a credit denial letter for a credit card you did not apply for, or your personal information was used to make purchases online or out of state.
If someone used your credit card, debit card, or personal check to purchase items in Colorado Springs, you must call 719-444-7000.
Lost or Mislaid Property
You have lost or mislaid your property. For example, you spend the day running errands and when you get home you notice your sunglasses are missing. You cannot specifically remember where you last saw them.
If you can remember the last location of the item, do not use this report type; report the item as a theft. For example, you leave your phone on the table at a restaurant. After leaving you realize you forgot your phone. Upon returning to the restaurant the phone is gone and has not been turned into the business.
Theft
Someone has stolen your property. For example, you come home and find your barbeque grill is missing. Or, you notice jewelry missing after hosting a party in your home. If someone has forcibly broken into or entered your unlocked home, detached garage, vehicle, or shed - STOP and call 719-444-7000 to request an officer respond.
Theft of Auto Parts
Someone has stolen parts from your car. The parts can be factory parts or aftermarket parts. This can include but is not limited to rims, engine parts, and exterior/interior parts, and the radio. If they broke into or entered your vehicle and only stole property that was not physically attached to your car (backpack, garage remote, registration paperwork, seat covers, etc.) then do not use this report type. Report this incident as a Burglary of a Motor Vehicle by calling 719-444-7000.
Theft of Bicycle
Someone has stolen your bicycle. If the person has only stolen items from your bicycle (headlamp, tools, etc.), do not use this report type. Please report those items using the "Theft" report type.
Theft of A License Plate
Someone has stolen one or both of the license plates from your vehicle. It does not matter if the license plates were expired. You may also report a missing temporary tag. You will need the license plate and VIN number for the vehicle that had the plates stolen.
Trespass
An unknown person has trespassed on your property. For example, you find items behind the shed in your backyard that lead you to believe someone has been sleeping at the location. Or, you notice the gate to your backyard has been opened.
You may not use this report type if you have suspect information. For example, you are certain or reasonably suspect that it is your neighbor, two houses up the street, has been the one going into your yard. If you believe you know who the suspect is, please call 719-444-7000 to request an officer.
Vandalism
An unknown person has damaged your property or vehicle. For example, someone shot out your car window with a BB gun, your fence was spray painted, your lawn decor was broken, etc. Do not use this report type, if, in addition to the damage, your property was also stolen. Please use the "Theft" report type or the "Theft of Auto Parts" if a car is involved.
You may not use this report type if you have suspect information. For example, you are certain or reasonably suspect that it is your neighbor, two houses up the street, has been the one going into your yard. If you believe you know who the suspect is, please call 719-444-7000 to request an officer.
Gas Skip - (Business Use Only)
An unknown suspect has driven off from a vehicle fueling station and not paid for their fuel.
After you file your report you will receive an automated email. Attached will be a copy of your report with a temporary case number assigned. This is not the official copy of the report. Once submitted your report will be reviewed. One of the following will occur:
- Your report will be approved within 72 hours and a permanent case number will be assigned.
- You will be asked by email or phone to provide additional information before the report can be processed.
- Your report will be forwarded to an investigator for additional follow-up before approval.
- Your report will be rejected by email as ineligible for online reporting. You will be requested to contact us to request an officer respond.
It is important to note that reports requiring additional information or referred to an investigator may take longer than 72 hours to approve.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is clear or viable suspect information?
The suspect can be named or clearly identified. This means that there is enough good information that could lead an officer to name or determine the location of the suspect. A video of the suspect, alone, is not considered viable suspect information.
In the case of a suspect vehicle, the full license plate must be known. Or, the vehicle must have very unique identifying marks or damage to the vehicle that could make it easily identifiable to any officer seeing the same vehicle at a later time. Video of the suspect vehicle, alone, that does not show the entire license plate is not considered viable suspect information.
Why do I need a government-issued ID for some reports?
This is to help prevent the filing of fraudulent reports. If you do not have the required ID, please call 719-444-7000 to file your report.
